South Texas in the American Civil War

We drove out to UTPA with Jan and Steve and met with Ken and Lee so we could listen to Dr. Jerry Thompson from Texas A & M International in Laredo who spoke on “South Texas in the American Civil War”.  Alexander Mendoza, history lecturer at North Texas University will opened the program talking about “Tejanos and the Civil War”.   Dr. Thompson is nationally known as a Civil War historian and a lively speaker and it was a pleasant evening listening to him talk about the Civil War in this area. We went to Dairy Queen afterwards and talked about the lecture and what we had learned.
