We traveled to Tulsa without any major problems but we did stop on our way through Joplin to have lunch and look at the progress from the tornado that went through in 2011. The devastation is still very prevalent with lots of vacant lots where buildings used to stand. The high school is the most dramatic as it is totally gone now. The trees were so stripped of branches that it will take some time for them to recover. We ate lunch at a little local shop on Main Street and will probably stop back there again some time on our way through.
We made it to Tulsa early in the evening and checked into the hotel and then went looking for the registration desk and what the plans were for dinner. They took us to an Italian restaurant that was within walking distance and the food was very good, I am just glad we were not paying for it! We sat with some of the folks from Louisiana and one of the ladies invited me to join them in the morning as they were going to do some exploring.
