Checking out a baler
Arkansas Fiddlers
Teaching square dancing
After a wonderful breakfast with Jan and Steve at a local restaurant we went to the Ozark Folk Center and wandered around the exhibits.   Hardy and Steve liked the guy stuff and Jan and I liked the girl stuff so we all got along just fine.  The recipe was in an old replica of a kitchen and the lady was actually making these cakes that we could sample.  Some of the fiddlers were playing in one of the barns so I had to get a picture of them.  We were all interested in an old baler that was set up outside the barn.  There were some older farm boys looking at it too so everyone got into the discussion on how it worked. We left the exhibits and went into the Cultural Center for a fiddler's contest.  There is so much talent out there and so many young people that perform. We went back to the trailer and BBQ'd some steaks and I brought this wonderful pumpkin cake that had 1,000 calories just to look at.  After dinner we went back to the Cultural Center for the night time entertainment.  They announced the winners of the Arkansas Fiddler's Contest and the young girl in this picture is 13 years old and took 2nd place at the contest.  She could play, sing and dance and was a real delight to watch.  After we left Jan and Steve's later that night we drove around the park and they were teaching square dancing in the park.  Of course, being seasoned dancers, we stopped to watch.  We had an interesting conversation with a couple of local folks who were instrumental in getting the music in the parks put together.
